Colne residents have welcomed the relocation and opening of a pharmacy in the town’s new health centre.

Colne Health Centre is owned and managed by NHS Property Services and opened its doors to patients in 2014. The pharmacy joins four GP practices, following their lead of moving from the old health centre on Market Street to the new £4m health centre on Craddock Road in Colne, East Lancashire.

The relocation of the pharmacy to its new premises means that residents now have all health facilities under one roof and they no longer have to make a journey away from the health centre to collect their prescription. photo 3

Commenting on the relocation, Mr Roy Jenkins, local resident and supporter of the new facility, said: “A job well done – We love the new pharmacy.  It’s modern, clean and there’s plenty of room for the staff and customers.

“The pharmacy staff are all very helpful and there is always someone on hand if you wish to discuss your medication.”

Tracy Howorth, Pharmacist at Colne Health Centre Pharmacy, said: “We are delighted to have a new home.  From a staff perspective, we now have a new modern facility with more space and new amenities that allows us to provide an efficient and consistent service to our customers.

“Customers have already told us that the move is a welcome and important addition to the Colne community.”

NHS Property Services, said: “We are pleased to be able to uphold our commitment to the local community and provide a contemporary, clean and well-equipped space for the pharmacy. This important relocation has complemented the numerous clinical services already available within the modern health facility.”
