Construction work on the new Townlands Hospital in Henley-on-Thames is complete.

At a site meeting on February 12, developer Amber Infrastructure and the contractor building the new hospital, VINCI Construction UK, informed NHS Property Services that construction work on the building was finished.

The hospital was formally handed over to the NHS on February 15 when the practical completion documentation was received.

Healthcare services need to be moved out of the old Townlands building four weeks after practical completion to enable the next phase of the health campus project to go ahead.

James Wakeham, Regional Director for NHS Property Services, which is taking the head lease on the building, said: “We are very pleased to have reached this important stage in the project which means patients are one step closer to receiving healthcare in their new, modern hospital.

“We now enter the next phase of the project and will continue to support healthcare providers in the transfer of services from the old building to the new one.”
