NHS Open Space has been awarded Bronze in the Best Use of Digital, Technology and Data Insight category at the iESE Public Sector Transformation Awards 2026, recognising the solution’s role in transforming how the NHS understands, manages and optimises its estate.

The iESE Public Sector Transformation Awards celebrate the organisations and initiatives using innovation, technology and collaboration to improve public services. This recognition highlights the growing impact NHS Open Space is having in helping the NHS unlock underutilised space and make it available for patient care.

By combining powerful utilisation monitoring, data analytics and a national booking platform, NHS Open Space enables estate leaders to make evidence-based decisions about their buildings while helping healthcare providers find and book flexible clinical and non-clinical rooms across England. The result is a more efficient NHS estate and faster access to space for services that support patients and communities.

A year of national recognition

The iESE award forms part of a remarkable year of recognition for NHS Open Space across both the healthcare and property sectors.

Over the past 12 months, NHS Open Space has been shortlisted for 12 national awards, reflecting its growing impact as a digital solution helping the NHS optimise its estate and improve access to care.

Among these recognitions, NHS Open Space was Highly Commended at the Property Week Property Awards 2025 in the PropTech Solution of the Year – Real Estate & Service Companies category. This accolade celebrates organisations delivering outstanding technology and digital services within the property sector.

The platform has also been shortlisted across several other prestigious industry awards, including:

  • Estates Gazette Awards 2025 – Future of Real Estate
  • Property Week Tech Innovation Awards 2025 – Digital Transformation & Data Excellence
  • LaingBuisson Awards 2025 – Technology Support Provider of the Year
  • UK PropTech Awards 2025 – across five categories recognising digital innovation, data utilisation, and technology for good

Together, these recognitions highlight how NHS Open Space is helping reshape how the NHS estate is used — delivering greater flexibility, stronger data insight and more efficient use of NHS buildings across the country.

Recognising digital transformation across the NHS

Most recently, NHS Open Space has also been shortlisted for two categories at the HSJ Digital Awards 2026, which celebrate the most impactful digital transformation initiatives across the NHS.

The platform has been recognised in the following categories:

  • Unlocking Productivity and Efficiency with Digital
  • Driving Change through Data and Analytics

The winners will be announced in May 2026.

These nominations reflect the increasing importance of digital tools and data insight in helping NHS organisations make smarter estate decisions — supporting the 10 Year Health Plan by unlocking capacity, improving efficiency and enabling services to be delivered closer to patients’ homes.

Supporting the future of the NHS estate

Developed by NHS Property Services, NHS Open Space was created to tackle one of the NHS’s most pressing challenges: ensuring its estate is used as effectively as possible.

Through combining detailed utilisation monitoring and analytic tools with a national booking platform, NHS Open Space enables NHS organisations to better understand how space is being used, optimise their buildings, and make more room available for services that support patients and communities.

“It’s fantastic to see NHS Open Space recognised through these awards. The iESE award in particular highlights the role digital innovation and data insight can play in helping the NHS optimise its estate and deliver better outcomes for patients.

We’re incredibly proud of the progress the solution has made and the growing community of organisations using it to make better use of NHS space.”

Looking ahead

As the NHS continues its shift towards more digitally enabled, community-based care, smarter use of the estate will play an increasingly important role.

The recognition NHS Open Space has received across the property, healthcare and technology sectors over the past year reflects the growing importance of this mission — helping the NHS unlock the full potential of its estate and bring services closer to the communities that need them most.
