Thanks to the incredible generosity and creativity of our colleagues, we’ve not only reached our Community Fund target of £40,000, but we’ve also exceeded it – raising an incredible £43,329 so far.
The Community Fund was created to support charities and community groups tackling health and social inequalities across the country. It’s about making a meaningful difference in the places where we live and work, and empowering our colleagues to get involved through fundraising, volunteering, and supporting causes close to their hearts.
This achievement reflects the creativity and commitment of our teams. Here’s a look at some of the inspiring events that helped us get here:
Seven brave colleagues braved the cold, wind, and rain in Stockport for The Wellspring’s Big Sleepout. The challenge saw them spend a night outdoors to experience just a fraction of what homelessness feels like.
Thanks to their efforts, £576 was raised to support The Wellspring charity.
Sixteen colleagues from the Midlands successfully completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, a demanding 24-mile route across Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough within 12 hours.
Through great teamwork and resilience, the group raised £3,309 for the Community Fund.
Twenty-two colleagues completed a 12-mile lake-to-lake circular walk in Milton Keynes to raise funds for Shine, a charity supporting children and families affected by Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus.
Despite cold weather and a challenging route, the team’s determination resulted in £2,040 raised.
Colleagues at Sheppey Community Hospital hosted a festive Christmas bake sale, raising £543 for Abigail’s Footsteps, a charity supporting bereaved parents and improving baby loss care across the UK.
Thanks to the efforts of the team and contributions from local bakers, these funds will help provide counselling services, memory boxes, and specialist training for healthcare professionals, making a meaningful difference for families in need.
Colleagues from across the South regions gathered at Stokes Bay, Gosport, for a Sports Day filled with team spirit and friendly competition. Classic events such as the egg-and-spoon race, three-legged race, and spinning relay brought plenty of energy and engagement.
The event raised £300. Thank you to everyone who took part and made the day a success.
Our teams are still working hard to generate even more for the charities our Community Fund Supports, in the next few months, we’ve got:
This winter, we’re combining wellbeing with giving back. Colleagues are committing to daily activities that boosts mental and physical wellbeing while connecting with colleagues. and raising funds for the charities we support.
Colleagues will soon be taking part in Paint & Sip for Sepsis, a creative fundraising event, to support Sepsis Research FEAT - the UK’s only charity dedicated to funding research into sepsis.
