Bloomsbury Health Centre in Birmingham recently featured on primetime BBC TV show ‘Songs of Praise’ as part of its coverage on the Gospel Choir of the Year final.

NHS Property Services took on responsibility for Bloomsbury Health Centre in April this year and recently welcomed the BBC film crew into the building to do an interview with Maxine Brooks who works at the centre.

Maxine, a practice nurse for Dr Majeeds Practice, is the Director of the Birmingham Community Gospel Choir which succeeded in making it to the finals of the prestigious national competition. As part of the programme featuring six finalists, the BBC visited Maxine at the NHSPS building to film and interview her in her place of work.

Speaking after the competition, Maxine said: “It is a pleasure to sing and to inspire people in the community with my choir. The ‘Songs of Praise’ competition was a great experience. I am very proud of my choir for reaching the final.”

Martin Royal, regional director of NHS Property Services, said: “Many congratulations to Maxine and the Birmingham Community Gospel Choir for making it through to the finals. It is a great achievement and we wish them all the best in the future.”
