Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act (2000) provides a legal framework for ensuring there is transparency, openness and accountability in all public organisations, including NHS Property Services.

Information about NHS Property Services is published on this website as part of our publication scheme.

If you are unable to find the information you are looking for in our publication scheme, you can send us a request for information under the FOI Act.

How we will handle your FOI request

When you send an FOI request to NHS Property Services we will acknowledge receipt, usually by email, within three working days.

You can expect to receive our full reply within 20 working days. This timescale may need to be extended if a qualified exemption is being considered. If this is the case we will keep you informed and give you an estimated date by which you can expect to receive our reply.

We may need to contact you to clarify your request. Where this is the case, the clock counting down to the 20 working day deadline will stop, and it will start again once we have the clarification we need to continue to process your request.

The fees regulations under the FOI Act say that requests should be processed without any charge unless the cost involved (including the time it takes to identify, search for and retrieve the information) exceeds £450. If we think the cost of processing your FOI request will exceed this limit, we are not obliged to proceed with it. However, where appropriate we will make contact with you to help you narrow down the scope of the request.

If you’re not satisfied with our reply

If you are not happy with how we have handled your FOI request, you can ask for an internal review. We aim to complete internal reviews within 20 working days. If we think it will take a little longer than this, we will let you know.

You can read more about how we handle FOI requests, including how we conduct internal reviews, in our FOI policy.

If you remain dissatisfied with how we have handled your request following an internal review, you can appeal to the Information Commissioner either online or by post to: The Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.
