Colleagues pitch in to help victims of Storm Desmond

Teams from NHS Property Services have been helping the victims of Storm Desmond in Cumbria.

Colleagues in the company’s North region raised enough money to fund a large van of supplies to be delivered to those who had lost everything.

Kevin Showler, Service Delivery Manager who supported the effort, said: “It wasaid 3 humbling and very emotional to see so many families, young and old coming up to us for the vital supplies. I heard some of them saying things like ‘I shouldn’t be taking these, I’m taking too much’, from people who had been left with absolutely nothing.

“Their lives have been ruined by these floods. You only have to drive round the streets of Carlisle to see how their homes have been devastated. It just leaves you feeling inadequate and wanting to help as much as possible.”

aid 2The surge of water brought by Storm Desmond began on 4 December, flooding large parts of the North West and causing widespread damage.
