Local MP backs new flexible room booking scheme at Havant Health Centre

Local MP Alan Mak has visited Havant Health Centre after the opening of its new flexible and bookable space under its landlord, NHS Property Services’ (NHSPS) new NHS Open Space scheme.

The programme offers clinical and non-clinical spaces for hire on an hourly or daily basis, with greater flexibility and choice at an affordable price.

Health and wellbeing providers as well as businesses and community groups in Havant can use NHS Open Space to easily find and book clinical and non-clinical rooms within their local communities, while being reassured of the safety of themselves and their customers.

The intuitive booking system means that users only pay for the time and space they need, which could provide much-needed relief on finances for independent and small businesses in the midst of the pandemic and improve access to health and wellbeing services to previously underserved areas. It also makes better use of the NHS estate, driving money back into the health service at a critical time.

Any profits from the scheme will be reinvested into the NHS estate.

Alan Mak, Member of Parliament for Havant, said: “It was great to see the NHS Open Space offering at Havant Health Centre last week and I welcome this new initiative.

“I very much look forward to the benefits it will bring not only to Health and Wellbeing professionals, but community groups and businesses, which form the backbone of my constituency.

“Previously underused space in NHS Property Services’ portfolio will be put to good use, and I am delighted to hear that the proceeds of the scheme will be reinvested into the NHS.”

Susan Swaffer, Regional Partnership Director at NHSPS, said: “We were delighted to welcome Mr Mak to Havant Health Centre and for him to see our new Open Space offering there.

“We hope that our easy and intuitive booking system will encourage and enable all sorts of organisations in Havant use our facilities, making the best of what NHSPS’ estate has to offer.”
