Cramlington Health Centre gets facelift

Refurbishment works have recently completed on Cramlington Health Centre. The site, which had begun to look tired after many years of use, has received £850,000 investment from its landlord, NHS Property Services (NHSPS) to improve the overall appearance of the building.

NHSPS and NHS Northumberland Clinical Commissioning Group have worked together to deliver this renovation. This included overhauling the ventilation system in the property, fire compliance works and major redecoration of the facility’s common areas.  As a result of the works, the Health Centre, which serves 1,000 people locally and houses 70 employees, will provide enhanced facilities for patients and staff alike.

Given the additional pressures caused by the pandemic on the services contained in the Health Centre, the tenants, landlord and local Clinical Commissioning Group agreed a programme of works that would not interfere with the Health Centre’s service provision. Contractors worked out of hours to deliver the project in a timely fashion.

Improvements to the facility’s staff areas, such as toilet refurbishment and redecoration comes as part of NHSPS’ ‘Healthy Places’ scheme.  The programme identifies opportunities to improve staff rest and welfare areas for our NHS partners, maintaining and promoting their physical and mental wellbeing at work, in order to continue delivering excellent patient care.

Karina Dare, Regional Partnership Director at NHS Property Services, said:

“We are delighted to hear that our tenants at Cramlington Health Centre are pleased with the result of the renovation work.   The changes will provide a much more modern, efficient and pleasant environment for NHS employees to work in and for patients to access healthcare.”

Jamie Mitchell, Head of Commissioning – Estates and Premises from NHS Northumberland Clinical Commissioning Group said:

“We are really pleased with the improvement works at Cramlington, this has significantly enhanced the patient and staff environment.”
