State of the art medical centre planned for Aldgate

Tower Hamlets Clinical Commissioning Group, NHS Property Services and the London Borough of Tower Hamlets come together to deliver a £6.8 million project to build a new primary care facility on the Goodman’s Fields development.

Work has begun to build a new home for a local GP practice in the London borough of Tower Hamlets. It will house a GP practice, AT Medics, which is currently based in three separate, smaller buildings.

With a rapidly expanding population, expected to reach around 345,000 people by 2025, Tower Hamlets needs extra healthcare provision, and the works taking place will enable better access to patient care across the borough.

Tower Hamlets Clinical Commissioning Group and landlord, NHS Property Services have worked together to produce a modern, user-centred design, creating an enhanced patient experience.

The project comes as a result of large-scale healthcare investment across Tower Hamlets and includes other schemes in Bethnal Green and Bow.

Angela Beart, Senior Construction Manager at NHS Property Services, said: “We are delighted to be on track to deliver another large-scale project in Tower Hamlets.  The look, design and functionality of the Goodman’s Fields health centre  will enable the practice, AT Medics to continue to deliver excellent patient care locally in a building that is both sustainable and has the space to accommodate an ever-growing patient list.”

Jack Dunmore, Strategic Estates Manager at Tower Hamlets Clinical Commissioning Group said: “This is a great partnership between the NHS and Tower Hamlets local authority. Through funding made available via s106 and community investment levies we are able to invest in expanded and fit-for purpose healthcare premises, enabling our local GP practices and primary care network to expand services for local people.”
