Stokesley Health Centre to receive £1.9 million facelift

Major refurbishment work has begun on Stokesley Health Centre.

Works to refurbish Stokesley Health Centre are underway.  The project will see a major overhaul of the site’s interior and investment in sustainability measures including installation of a new, more energy efficient, boiler and renewal of the centre's roof. The works, funded by a £1.9 million NHS capital grant, will provide a modern and fit for purpose working environment for frontline clinicians and enhance the experiences of the Health Centre’s 10,000 patients.

Throughout the project, the partners have used local contractors, including Richmond’s Acomb Construction and project managers Durham and Tees Community Ventures. The construction team will work closely with the community and neighbours to minimise any disturbance from the project.

The partners on the project, including the site’s landlord, NHS Property Services, NHS North Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group and the GP practice in residence, Dr Duggleby and Partners, have worked closely together to ensure the continuity of services on the site during the renovations.  Building works will be staggered to minimise disruption to primary care and some community services have been temporarily relocated whilst works are ongoing.

The partners expect works to conclude, with all services returning by spring 2022.

Wendy Balmain Director of Strategy and Integration at NHS North Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group said: "This project has grown from successful partnership working and will deliver an improved experience for everyone who uses the Health Centre, as well as excellent healthcare from premises fit for the twenty-first century.”

Dr Mark Duggleby, Senior Partner, Dr Duggleby and Partners GP Practice said: "We are excited to have the refurbishment of our Health Centre under-way after many months of planning. We look forward to providing our patients and staff with a vastly improved, modern workspace for delivery of our services."

Karina Dare, Regional Partnership Director (North East England and Yorkshire) at NHS Property Services said:

“We are delighted to see the start of works to the Health Centre and are very excited to deliver a new, more sustainable facility in which local clinicians can provide excellent patient care to the people of Stokesley for years to come.”
