NHS, Social Care and Keyworkers Day

Invited guests included representatives from the Faversham Medical Centre, Cottage Hospital and Newton Place Surgery, Kent Police, East Kent Carers Association, Faversham Foodbank, QE Grammar School, The Abbey School, Tesco, Morrisons, Age UK, Mutual Aiders, West Faversham Community Centre, local pharmacies, undertakers and others were invited but unable to attend.  

David Harrison, Facilities Services Manager at NHS Property Services, and his team worked closely with the Mayor’s office to secure a prominent position for the bench. He says:  “The Bench will be a welcome addition to the community, and an everyday reminder of the excellent work done by all frontline staff, including our own, during the pandemic. NHS Property Services is proud to have supported the Mayor of Faversham on this wonderful initiative and we welcome the positive impact it will have on the local community.

The unveiling was following by tea and cake provided by the amazing Gunpowder WI, who were delighted to answer our call to arms. 

The Mayor of Faversham, Cllr Mrs Alison Reynolds says "It was a very proud and emotional moment, to have the honour and privilege of unveiling the Commemorative NHS Bench outside the Health Centre in Bank Street.  Acknowledging the 73th Anniversary of the founding of the NHS and recognizing the tremendous work carried out by the NHS staff and Key Workers in Faversham during the Covid-19 pandemic.  Thank you to my Chaplin, the Revd Geoff Cook, who led the event with prayers, which was followed by a two minute's silence.  May I also express the gratitude felt by the whole Community of this amazing town of Faversham".
