We let space in our buildings to GP surgeries, Clinical Commissioning Groups, NHS Trusts, the Third Sector as well as private providers and other organisations.

While some just lease space from us, others take advantage of our full facilities management. Few property companies have such a high level of expertise as both a landlord and a service provider to the healthcare sector.

A key part of our role as estate manager is to agree and record the basis on which our customers occupy buildings. Previously, many customers occupied space on an informal basis, which made it difficult to identify underused or vacant space. By establishing agreements in the form of a lease or occupancy agreement letter, we can make sure customers only occupy and pay for the space they need and can work with them to identify ways to improve our services.

Our facilities management services are evolving along with the changing needs of NHS organisations. We provide a mixture of in-house and outsourced services, managing both the internal and external environments that surround our properties.

We rely on good communication with our customers to provide the right advice about how to occupy space in the most efficient way possible. It is vital that customers tell us of any changes to their occupation or operations. Our initiatives to optimise space include our Vacant Space Handback Scheme and our NHS Open Space programme.
