NHSPS wins two awards at the IWFM Impact Awards

NHS Property Services won the 'Team of the Year' and 'People Development and Talent Retention' awards at the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management's IWFM Impact Awards.

The awards 'celebrate and showcase outstanding best practice and ingenuity from an influential profession which touches many areas of life, including some of the greatest challenges facing economies and communities across the globe' (IWFM 2022).

The ‘Team of the year’ award was won by our Facilities Management team, who make up 85% of colleagues at NHSPS. This award celebrates outstanding workplace and facilities management teams and the positive impact that they have for the organisation and customers.

In 2021-22, they were at the absolute forefront when it came to enabling excellent patient care during COVID-19 by setting up 23 mass vaccination sites and 227 Primary Care Network vaccination sites, alongside completing 30,000 emergency or urgent FM jobs and over 100,000 non-urgent tasks to keep buildings operational for clinical use. This was achieved alongside 95% completion in leadership training and delivering 200 transformational projects.

Colleagues from NHSPS' People team also brought home the award for ‘People Development and Talent Retention’, recognising the ongoing development colleague skills and the retention of talent across the organisation.

From frontline delivery service providers to senior leaders, all colleagues have access to a wide variety of in person and online training and development. This ranges from apprenticeships, practical skills and life skills to mentoring, leadership training and Mental Health First Aid training. In 2021-22, 70% of new appointments came from internal applicants.

IWFM Chief Executive Linda Hausmanis said: "Each amazing winner demonstrated that the workplace and facilities management profession is a business enabler, value creator, change maker, and vital frontline deliverer. Congratulations to our finalists and winners; you truly are exemplars of our profession."

A huge congratulations, well done and thank you to all colleagues involved.
