Town planning and the NHS Property Services estate
We navigate and influence the town planning system to maximise a site’s value or future potential for development. This can be done via planning appraisals and applications to enable redevelopments or maximise a site’s value before sale. Beyond planning applications, we protect NHS rights to our buildings through strategic site promotion (e.g. brownfield land registers) or negotiating assets of community value nominations and listed building processes.
Through strong partnerships with our customers we can create practical, tailored and innovative solutions, using and influencing the town planning system to ensure NHS interests are protected.
Town planning and the wider NHS estate
Beyond individual sites, we monitor and respond to emerging town and country planning policy documents and advise on town planning matters for the wider NHS. For example, we coordinated the combined NHS response to the new London Plan in 2019, ensuring healthcare provision was a priority to support the delivery of the NHS Long Term Plan.
