NHSPS and UCL join forces in award-winning sustainable partnership

The accoladed paper is titled: “Evaluating the potential of using energy certification models to assess decarbonization pathways for primary healthcare buildings”. The project explores the potential of repurposing existing EPC models to forecast and assess the impact of transitioning NHS primary care buildings to low-carbon technologies.

NHS Property Services (NHSPS) is proud to announce its role in an award-winning research project that has been recognized with the “Most Significant Contribution to the Art and Science of Building Services Engineering” at the 2025 CIBSE IBPSA-England Technical Symposium.
The team developed a bespoke conversion tool to automate the transformation of EPC models into more advanced simulation models. This breakthrough has opened new avenues for cost-effective, data-driven planning in the NHS estate. NHSPS’s involvement was instrumental throughout the project — from initiating the research concept and supplying critical data, to co-authoring the academic paper and supporting its submission to the CIBSE Symposium.
