NHSPS is proud to announce that its Executive Director for Responsible Business, Dr Shamir Ghumra, has been recognised in this year’s ENDS Power List*.
With more than 15 years’ experience as a sustainability leader driving environmental and social governance (ESG) initiatives across the built environment sector, Shamir joined NHS Property Services in December 2022.
And since then, he has developed and overseen the business’ technical compliance, corporate social responsibility, health and safety, energy, equality, diversity and inclusion, and environmental strategies as well as leading the delivery of the organisation's Green Plan and ESG framework.
One supporter described him as “an unassuming leader, who continuously makes the case for ongoing investment in the sustainable energy transition.”
Prior to joining NHSPS, Dr Ghumra was head of building performance services at the Building Research Establishment (BRE), where he managed various business areas including energy modelling, BREEAM, and the BRE Academy.
A Chartered Environmentalist, a fellow of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) and a visiting professor of ESG performance and strategy at Loughborough University, Shamir commented: “It’s an honour to be named alongside other environmental leaders in a list which seeks to recognise those who want to deliver positive change and make a difference. I congratulate all who are featured, and look forward to continuing to push the environmental and responsible business agendas forwards for NHSPS, the wider health sector and our partners and patients.”
