2024-25 Gender Pay Gap Summary

The 2024 figures show a stable picture, with particularly strong female representation across most pay levels and continued opportunities to broaden representation and gender imbalance in senior roles.

  • Median hourly pay gap: Women earned 76p for every £1 earned by men (a 24.3% median gap).
  • Mean hourly pay gap: Women’s average hourly pay was 24.2% lower than men’s.
  • Representation across pay quartiles: Women made up:
    • 39.0% of the highest‑paid quartile
    • 54.1% in upper‑middle
    • 79.4% in lower‑middle
    • 72.0% in the lowest quartile
  • Bonus pay:
    • 5.8% of women received a bonus, compared with 12.9% of men.
    • Women’s median bonus pay was 13.1% lower than men’s.

The 2023 picture shows strong female participation across the workforce and a foundation for continued progress in developing more balanced representation at the top tier.

 

  • Median hourly pay gap: Women earned 79p for every £1 earned by men (a 21.4% median gap).
  • Mean hourly pay gap: Women’s average hourly pay was 25.8% lower than men’s.
  • Representation across pay quartiles: Women made up:
    • 36.3% of the highest‑paid quartile
    • 62.3% in upper‑middle
    • 78.0% in lower‑middle
    • 72.6% in the lowest quartile
  • Bonus pay:
    • 4.7% of women received a bonus vs 12.9% of men.
    • Women’s median bonus pay was 10.6% lower than men’s.
