The Chair of NHS Property Services has welcomed the launch of the Government’s ambitious 10-Year Health Plan, aimed at building a neighbourhood health service fit for the future.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Health and Social Care Secretary Wes Streeting and Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves unveiled the Plan for Change at the Sir Ludwig Guttman Health and Wellbeing Centre in Stratford - an NHS Property Services site which currently delivers a wide range of outpatient and primary care services to around 18,000 patients.
Speaking at the launch, Nick Moberly Chair of NHS Property Services said:
“We are delighted to welcome the Prime Minister and Secretary of State today as we hosted the official launch of the 10 Year Health Plan at the Sir Ludwig Guttman Health and Wellbeing Centre, one of our NHSPS buildings in North East London. We welcome the publication of the Plan and look forward to supporting the NHS and Department of Health and Social Care to deliver their ambitious vision for patients. Improving the NHS estate is crucial to making the plan a reality, and it’s vital that the NHS draws on its specialist estates expertise to do so."
The Plan outlines a “seismic change” in how healthcare is delivered, introducing a new Neighbourhood Health Service. This model will bring together multidisciplinary teams - often under one roof - within local communities to significantly improve access to care.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer said:
“It’s buildings like this that represent the future of the NHS located in the local community, where people live, working in partnership with the people it serves and delivering services around their lives. The NHS should be there for everyone, whenever they need it. Our 10-Year Health Plan will fundamentally rewire and future-proof the NHS—bringing care closer to home, harnessing cutting-edge technology, and focusing on prevention. That means access to GPs, nurses, and wider support all in one place, rebalancing the system around patients’ lives—not the other way around.”
Health and Social Care Secretary Wes Streeting added:
“This is one of the most fundamental shifts in healthcare delivery in NHS history. Our Plan for Change will create an NHS that is truly fit for the future - keeping people healthy and out of hospital, with care delivered closer to home and even in the home.”
Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves added: “The Plan for Change will get our NHS back on its feet. We are spending money on taxpayers' priorities, but that wouldn't have been possible without the measures we took in the budget. We fixed the foundations, and we put our economy back on a strong footing. I am proud that with this plan, the NHS will always be there for those who need it."
