Funding the NHS estate of the future
NHS leaders tell us their biggest challenge is funding. So it’s welcome that long-term estates funding is under the spotlight. But are you missing out right now on funding that could be available to your organisation?
Lord Darzi’s report in September identified a £37 billion shortfall in NHS capital investment, while the recent Budget announcement of a £1.57bn capital investment allocation over the next financial year.
Even with this and the additional £1bn health capital investment to address maintenance backlog, an aged estate and growing resource pressures are still making it more difficult for us all to fund improvements to buildings and deliver infrastructure strategies.
Added to that is the level of confusion around the many capital and revenue funding methods. 84% of estates leaders surveyed for our new research report stated that barriers to funding are due to a lack of understanding of the options and/or challenges in navigating the application process.
So what more can you do now to better access the funding opportunities on offer and make informed financial choices to release additional capital? Well, quite a bit actually. From deepening your understanding of your funding options to sharpening your skills.
As your strategic estates partner, we can help you plug the gaps and show you and your teams how to make the most of the vast capital and revenue funding sources available to you.
