NHS Open Space goes live

NHS Property Services is delighted to announce that our NHS Open Space programme is now live, after a successful pilot programme. We will be covering 20 locations across England, with plans to rapidly expand across the country in the coming year.

Head to our new booking website at openspace.nhs.uk

The premise of this programme is using NHS buildings to maximise the range of health and wellbeing services offered to communities, using existing NHS centres instead of requiring expensive external space. With NHS Open Space, we deliver on the government’s long term plan ambitions of offering a greater number of services in local communities, reducing the pressure on large hospitals and making life easier for patients. It’s also in keeping with using technology to support innovation within our health service.

NHS Open Space enables flexible room bookings for both clinical and non-clinical space. This gives both commissioned and third party services more transparency, flexibility and efficiency, helping them to reach new patients and customers, and pay only for the time and space they need. This offers the whole NHS system (and beyond) a one-system and self-service solution to book and pay for rooms via our newly developed digital platform, and a guarantee of quality onsite experience with rooms ready to go and reception staff to provide access.

This go live follows a successful pilot programme in which we have built up a community of over 1,000 users, booking over 63,000 hours of room use across 19 locations.

We’re aiming to expand this programme further very soon, so if you can’t find a space near you right now, please watch this space!
