Upgrades and updates

We deliver a range of projects to keep NHS buildings statutorily and lease compliant and in a good state of repair, in line with our obligations as a landlord. Where possible, we use unique and innovative ways to not only make them safe, but also sustainable.

New builds and refurbishments

We manage transformational building projects, such as building new NHS health centres, adding extensions, and reconfiguring and/or refurbishing existing buildings, at the request of occupiers to help the NHS get the most from its estate. Up-front funding is normally provided by NHS Property Services, but in some cases we work with third-party development partners.

£13m remodelling of hospital tower block

Whitby Hospital in North Yorkshire currently undergoing an upgrading process as part of a £13M scheme, entailing the modernisation and remodelling of the ‘tower block’ structure on the Springhill hospital site. Works are due to complete in summer 2021.

NHS Property Services has worked in close partnership with Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust and North Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group.

The new Crocus Medical Practice in Saffron Walden

We refurbished an underused hospital wing in Saffron Walden to provide the nearby Crocus GP Surgery with a new location as the lease on their existing long-term home was expiring and the listed building they resided in was restrictive.

Patients can now benefit from more joined up care in a modern environment fit for the future, while we have made more efficient use of the the NHS estate.

What our construction team did in 2018/19
