We are exploring redevelopment opportunities of underutilised and inefficient sites in our estate in order to provide modern, fit for purpose healthcare facilities, as well as optimise the value of the site so that funds gained can be reinvested back into the NHS. This includes releasing land for much needed housing.

Much of the primary care estate is in poor condition, with many sites requiring significant and costly refurbishment or reconfiguration to remain safe and suitable for modern patient care. In addition to this, many of our sites have further potential for increased occupation, both of health services and other uses such as housing.

Through active asset management we identify opportunities to increase the value of the assets we own and manage. Our clear goal is always to generate maximum value from the sale and development of NHS land, so it can be reinvested in the estate.

Our multidisciplinary team is made up of Development Managers and Town Planning professionals supporting the business in evaluating and delivering new healthcare environments. We realise latent potential from NHS Property Services’ estate in the course of implementing a co-ordinated strategy of improvement and renewal of the portfolio providing quality environments for clinical services, while releasing surplus land for housing and capital receipts for reinvestment in the NHS.

Our Town Planning team are developing a series of planning guidance documents which we hope to be of use to our customers and the wider NHS, as well as being used internally.
