NHS Property Services and South Tess CCG are pleased to confirm that a design and build contracting team has been appointed to support the redevelopment of Guisborough Primary Care Hospital in North Yorkshire.

Guisborough Hospital is owned by NHS Property Services and provides a wide range of outpatient services. Kier Group supported by Medical Architecture, a specialist healthcare architectural firm, have been appointed as architect and health planner for the hospital revamp, which is being developed in partnership with the  local health economy.

Peter Todd, Principal Construction Manager at NHS Property Services, said: “We are continuing to support the South Tees health economy to enable the implementation of the CCG’s IMPRoVE (Integrated Management and Proactive Care for the Vulnerable and Elderly) Programme  and provide the local community with more choice and care closer to home.

“The next step in the programme is the work we are doing to improve the infrastructure of Guisborough Hospital and we are delighted to have the Kier Group and Medical Architecture helping us with the development of these plans.”

South Tees has seen a number of strategic changes to their healthcare estate over the last year which are already proving to be invaluable, with improved accommodation and services being delivered from estate which is fit for purpose – improving the quality of the care environment and utilising void spaces, leading to savings of £1.9m.

Commenting on their appointment as the architect for this development scheme, Lianne Knotts from Medical Architecture, said: “We are excited to be involved in this project, which will result in the delivery of services from a building that is fit for purpose. The benefits that these changes and developments will bring to the people of Guisborough will be invaluable to their health and wellbeing”.
