New video sees Devizes Health Centre build frame-by-frame

Work to deliver the brand new Devizes Health Centre continues at pace, with
completion due in summer 2022.

The partners on the project, which include Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon
and Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group, NHS Property Services and Kier
Construction have released time lapse footage showing the progress of the build,
with the shell of the new building now complete.

People can watch the video now on the BSW CCG website.

The new health centre will bring together a range of local health services in a
modern and fit for purpose facility.

Services currently provided by Wiltshire Health and Care at the Devizes Community
Hospital will be moving to the health centre, alongside a range of outpatient services
provided by the Royal United Hospitals Bath and some of Avon and Wiltshire Mental
Health Partnership NHS Trust’s community mental health services.

Patients of four local GP practices – Lansdowne Surgery, Market Lavington Surgery,
St James Surgery and Southbroom Surgery – will be able to be referred for same or
next-day medical care at the new health centre.

This state-of-the-art development will not only enable the delivery of enhanced
services in an improved clinical setting but will also be more sustainable as one of
the NHS’ first net zero buildings.

The site will have an energy EPC rating of A+, and will utilise green technology, such
as heat pumps and solar panels to generate electricity and heat to serve the
building.

Dr Richard Sandford-Hill, GP at Market Lavington Surgery and board member of the
Devizes Primary Care Network said: “We are excited to see the health centre
building coming to life. The new centre will give us much-needed additional space for health services in the
area, making it easier for patients to access the care they need locally. We are looking forward to working alongside our partners in health care, all under
one roof.”

Douglas Blair, Managing Director, Wiltshire Health and Care, said: “It’s great to be
part of the Devizes Health Centre project which will bring together services, providing
improved access to health care for the local community.”

James Wakeham, Principal Construction Manager (South West England), NHS
Property Services said: “The work on Devizes Health Centre is progressing well, and
we very much look forward to opening the building for the local community to use in
2022. Innovation has very much been at the heart of this project since its inception, and
we hope that our work with the other partners on this project will provide a
sustainable facility that supports excellent patient care for years to come.”
