Colleagues at NHS Property Services have been recognised for raising £150k through a series of innovative fundraising initiatives, delivering the incredible amount for charity partner Young Lives vs Cancer six months ahead of plan.
Over 2,500 people from across the organisation got involved in the activities across the country, challenging themselves and getting creative to help fundraise for the charity which supports young people and families affected by cancer.
The money raised will enable Young Lives vs Cancer to support more than 800 children, young people and their family members who are facing cancer, and provide them with more than 2,000 nights of free accommodation in their Homes from Home while they undergo treatment.
Events from rowing and running to swimming and skydiving, tractor runs and trick or treating to Christmas fairs and cricket matches, the team at NHSPS have been nothing short of staggering in terms of their creativity and commitment to fundraising since the launch of the partnership in summer 2021.
Dr Shamir Ghumra, Executive Director of Responsible Business at NHSPS said: “We want to say a huge thank you to every NHSPS colleague that has been involved in this fantastic achievement by making a donation or challenging themselves to help raise funds for Young Lives vs Cancer's incredible Homes from Home programme.”
“The real life experiences we’ve heard from children and families supported by Young Lives vs Cancer have been so moving, and we are incredibly proud of every single colleague who has played a part in smashing this target ahead of time.”
Colleagues were recognised at a celebration event held at NHSPS’ London head office. During the festivities, representatives from Young Lives vs Cancer gave an impact talk, highlighting where the funds raised will go. These representatives included Beth Southern, a Paediatric Social Worker at Great Ormond Street, who works with Young Lives vs Cancer alongside Fiona McCann, Regional Corporate Partnership Director at Young Lives vs Cancer and Eric Coats, House Manager at Paul’s House.
Shamir added: “This has been a great opportunity to hear firsthand about the impact of our fantastic fundraising efforts and the difference we're making in the lives of children with cancer.”
