£200k upgrade for Manchester health clinics
Refurbished waiting area at Moss Side Health Centre
Major internal refurbishment to two health centres in Manchester has brought huge benefits to staff and patients.
NHS Property Services has invested £150k in Withington Clinic on Wilmslow Road, Manchester, to give the clinic a new lease of life. The work was coordinated by Sally Teague, Construction Manager at NHS Property Services and has provided six refurbished clinical rooms that meet all infection control and CQC standards.
Sally Teague said: “We worked closely with our tenants, Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and University Hospital of South Manchester, whose staff provide a variety of community services from the building, to ensure the designs and specifications of the build were suitable for their staff and patients.
“The new clinical rooms now provide a modern and fit for purpose healthcare environment and it’s great to see what a difference it has made to the staff working from the site.”
Maggs Hancock, Community Orthoptist who works from Withington Clinic was overjoyed by the newly refurbished clinical rooms. She said: “I was thrilled to bits when I walked into the Orthoptic room at Withington for the first time. A big thank you to all, I really appreciate all the hard work.”
NHS Property Services has also recently finalised a second project at Moss Side Health Centre, just three miles from the Withington Clinic. The project included the refurbishment of the GP and community waiting area and an upgrade to the toilets, to improve accessibility for all patients.
Commenting on this £50k project, Sally Teague, said; “Patient and staff engagement was key to the successful implementation of works at Moss Side, specifically because the community waiting area was used by the Child Protection Team, who required a calm, child friendly and positive space.
“We worked closely with the team on the designs, which resulted in bright sea life graphics, which are a great addition to the new, modern space.”
