Refurbishment completes at health centre in Stockport
Significant improvements to the external access at Heaton Norris Health Centre
Access and infrastructure upgrades at Heaton Norris Health Centre in Stockport have now been completed, bringing huge benefits to patients and staff.
NHS Property Services invested £300k in the centre to improve the building’s accommodation, accessibility and provide a better environment for all patients, visitors and staff.
The project involved significant reconfiguration of the entrance to improve access in accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) and further improvement works that included; security upgrades, a full roof replacement and upgrades to all the toilets.
Sally Teague, Construction Manager at NHS Property Services coordinated the renovations at Heaton Norris. She said: “The work involved significant disruption to the site as a temporary entrance had to be created, however by working closely and effectively with tenants, the health centre was able to continue to operate as normal.
“The centre needed a range of work to improve its existing facilities, to extend the life of the building and to ensure the provision of safe and quality services for many years to come. The refurbished centre provides a better experience and environment for all patients.”
